Special Order Dolls and Puppets

All of our orders are special orders, as we make each doll and puppet to order. Even if you choose Cinderella or Little Red Riding Hood, we will ask you what skin tone, hair color, eye color, and dress colors you prefer. However, sometimes people are looking for a huggable cloth doll who looks like their child, or a hand puppet to match a story that they wrote, or even a completely new creature all together. This is how the first Yoblitt came into being, as well as the first Selkie. We happily try to accommodate such requests. The simplest are ones where we can adapt existing patterns, for instance a doll based on an Australian fairy tale with two little girls could use a basic Cinderella pattern, but with different clothing, skin and facial features. We usually fill such requests in our regular 2-3 weeks. Sometimes characters require a whole new pattern, such as the Selkie did. This takes more time, and frequently requires more materials. We usually fill such requests in 4-6 weeks. And don't forget, no matter what doll or puppet you order, they will always be a unique, signed, huggable creation made specially for you.

How to place a special order:

Create a character (a story character, a friend, a child, a pet, etc.)
Choose a format (hand puppet, double sided doll, pouch doll, etc.)
Choose a skin tone:

Muslin

Peach

Coffee

Chocolate
Choose a fur color if an animal.
Choose a general color scheme. Would you like blue clothes, pink clothes, purple clothes? We will work with you to choose specific fabrics and patterns when you call.
Choose facial features: drawn or plastic eyes, sewn or drawn nose. Don't forget to select eye colors.
Choose hair color and style if applicable: long or short, straight or curly, pony tail(s), braids or loose.
Contact us by phone (650) 996-2280 or e-mail us at Realms of Gold to place your order. We will create a detailed description of your special order, calculate the total cost (including shipping and handling and tax if applicable) and provide you with a purchase order number and shipping date. If we can use an existing base pattern, the doll or puppet will usually cost the same as those on our other pages, $16-$60, and will usually ship within 2-3 weeks of receipt of payment. If the character requires me to design an entirely new pattern, the character will usually cost $75-100, depending upon size and complexity. New designs usually ship within 4-6 weeks of receipt of payment. All payments and ship dates are confirmed by e-mail.
